About the speaker

Dr Jamie Rickcord is medical psychotherapist with expertise in treating trauma related and treatment resistant mental health conditions. Dr Jamie also holds an academic post at The University of Sydney in the Faculty of Medicine and Health, Master of Medicine (Psychotherapy) Program as a lecturer and clinical supervisor and is also a faculty member of the Westmead Program for Complex Traumatic Disorders. Professionally Dr Jamie is clinical member of the Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy (ANZAP).

Dr Jamie practices a contemporary psychotherapy called the Conversational Model. Rooted in humanistic, relational, and psychodynamic traditions the model emphasises the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and the therapeutic relationship in facilitating psychological healing with a strong focus on how the relationship between therapist and patient promotes insight, emotional processing, and change. Dr Jamie is also one of Australia's most experienced prescribers and educator of cannabinoid pharmacology and physiology.
