Medicinal Cannabis and Autism: New Horizons in Paediatric Care
About this seminar
Join Dr. Bonni Goldstein in this groundbreaking webinar as she explores her pioneering research on the use of medicinal cannabis in treating children with autism. Her recent study, published in a renowned scientific journal, reveals how medical cannabis (MC) can potentially alleviate clinical symptoms in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)—a neurodevelopmental condition that affects behavior, communication, social interactions, and learning abilities.
Dr. Goldstein's research uniquely applies machine learning techniques to a dynamic, high-resolution dataset of cannabis-responsive biomarkers found in saliva, identifying key biomarkers that distinguish ASD from typically developing (TD) groups, and exploring non-cannabinoid plant molecules with synergistic effects. Her findings highlight the role of lysophosphatidylethanolamine in distinguishing between ASD and TD, reveal novel phytochemicals that enhance therapeutic effects by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, and categorize THC- and CBD-associated biomarkers.
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of these groundbreaking findings, discuss the implications of biomarkers in quantifying the impact of MC, and examine the potential of specific cannabinoids like CBG. Dr. Goldstein will also share patient case studies and offer practical guidance for clinicians considering cannabinoid treatments in their practice, making this webinar an invaluable resource for anyone involved in autism care or medicinal cannabis.

About the speaker
Dr Bonni Goldstein, the Medical Director of Canna-Centers Wellness & Education, a California-based medical practice devoted to educating patients about the use of cannabis for serious and chronic medical conditions, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of medicinal cannabis and its applications in treating various conditions.
After years of working in Pediatric Emergency medicine and witnessing the beneficial effects of medical cannabis in an ill friend, she developed a keen interest in the science of medical cannabis.
Over the last 15 years, she has evaluated thousands of patients for the use of medical cannabis and has a special interest in treating children with intractable epilepsy, autism, cancer, and other conditions. Her latest book, “Cannabis is Medicine: How Medical Cannabis and CBD are Healing Everything from Anxiety to Chronic Pain”, was published in September 2020.
