About the webinar

Emerging research into Δ9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) is exploring its potential role in appetite regulation, glucose metabolism, weight management and broader metabolic health. With a distinct pharmacological profile and activity at cannabinoid receptors, THCV has become an increasing focus of research into metabolic dysfunction. This session explores the pharmacology and proposed mechanisms of THCV, its relationship with CB1 signalling and appetite regulation, and the current preclinical and human evidence across glycaemic control, insulin sensitivity, body weight and other metabolic outcomes. Participants will also examine the limitations of the available evidence and what further research is needed to determine the future clinical role of THCV in metabolic health.

Describe the role of the endocannabinoid system and CB1 receptor signalling in appetite regulation, energy balance and metabolic health
Explain the pharmacology of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (Δ9-THCV), including its receptor activity and proposed mechanisms relevant to appetite and metabolic regulation
Critically evaluate the current preclinical and human evidence for Δ9-THCV in metabolic health, including its potential effects on glycaemic control, appetite, body weight and other metabolic parameters

About the speaker

Nick Robertson is Director of New Product Development and Innovation at Organigram, one of Canada’s leading licensed cannabis producers. During his 10 years with the company, Nick has progressed in various roles to now leading the development of new cannabis products, delivery formats and consumer experiences. His work sits at the intersection of cannabinoid science, product development and commercial strategy, translating emerging research and technologies into practical, scalable products. Nick has been closely involved in Organigram’s exploration of minor cannabinoids, including THCV, and the development of novel formulations designed to address evolving patient and consumer needs.
